A Southern California native, Mr. Chavez began his training in Karate in 1985. He earned his First Degree Black Belt (Shodan) in 1992 and his Second Degree (Nidan) in 1996. He also earned a First Degree in Kenpo in 2000 and holds a Second Degree in Tae Kwon Do. Mr. Chavez has trained in Judo, Aikido, Tang Soo Do and kickboxing. He began teaching karate in 1989 and has been Chief Instructor at Frederick Martial Arts since 2013.  Since becoming sole proprietor of FMA, Mr. Chavez developed a program supporting each individual students’ growth and has maintained the philosophy of modeling courtesy, discipline, and respect.

Mr. Ames, a Senior Instructor began teaching at Frederick Martial Arts 2014. He began his Martial Arts training in 1998 in Tae Kwon Do/ Tang Soo Do style. He earned a Black Belt in 2004 and a Second Degree 2006.  Mr. Ames earned his Third Degree Black Belt (Sandan) from Frederick Martial Arts in 2019.

Ms. Hayden began studying the Martial Arts in her early 20’s. She earned her Black Belt in 2018. She also achieved a Yellow Belt in Gumdo, a Green Belt in Shōrin-ryū karate, and an assistant Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and HapKiDo. In addition, Ms. Hayden was one of Frederick Martial Arts first students in the Fall of 2013 and subsequently FMA’s first Black Belt.

Ms. Turner began training in the Martial Arts in 2013. She earned her First Degree  Black Belt (Shodan) in 2018 and Second Degree (Nidan) in 2022.  She is a Level 1 Archery instructor certified with USA Archery.  She is a retired U.S. Army Reserve Officer with 23 years of service.  Ms. Turner has volunteered in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and served as Cub Master for three years.  In 2018 she became a beekeeper and maintains a small apiary in Middletown.

Mr. Turner began training in the Martial Arts in 2013.  He earned his First Degree Black Belt (Shodan) in 2018 and his Second Degree (Nidan) in 2022.  Mr. Turner continues to be an active member of the dojo and is working toward his Third Degree (Sandan).   Mr. Turner is also an  Eagle Scout and is pursuing a career in education and will graduate from Hood College in 2025

Bill Turner has been with Frederick Martial Arts since 2014. He earned his First Degree Black Belt (Shodan) in April 2022. He has worked for the Department of Defense since 1992 and is a retired Army Officer. He is a Scout Leader and active in the Knights of Columbus.
